The invention relates to a connector for hollow profiles. In the manufacture of components made of profiles, in particular hollow profiles, such as frames or grids, a connection of several profiles is often required, for example, for their extension or for the formation of corner or T-joints. Reliable and cost-effective joining of profiles continues to be achieved by welding. However, welding processes are not suitable for every material and leave behind seams which can be a potential weak point and have to be reworked for structural or aesthetic reasons. In the case of powder-coated components, joining by means of welding is by no means desirable since this will destroy the powder coating. Further difficulties may also occur in practice in corner joints, which deviate from a rectangular corner joint, or in T-joints. Corner connectors have been proposed as an alternative to joining hollow profiles. Such corner connectors are described for example in DE 20 2010 010 045 Ul, DE 21 59 971 and AT 514 974 Al. These corner connectors have in common that at least two clamping parts or clamping legs are provided which are pressed by means of a spreading means, such as a screw or a displaceable spreading piece, against two opposite inner sides of hollow profiles. In this way, a positive connection between the clamping parts or clamping legs of the corner connector and two opposite inner sides of the hollow profiles is formed. The object of the invention is to provide an improved connector for hollow profiles, which allows a weld-like strength. The connector according to the invention should also be able to be applied without an externally visible or barely visible attachment. The object of the invention is achieved by a connector for hollow profiles, which consists of two parts and comprises a spreading means, wherein the two parts of the connector in their cross section respectively correspond to the circumference of a baseline open trapezium with two legs and a top. When the parts are inserted into the hollow profile, they are arranged with respect to one another such that the upper sides face each other and the legs extend with their open ends into the inner edges of the hollow profile, wherein at least on the upper side and in the regions adjacent to the upper side a receptacle for the transverse to the longitudinal axis of the respective parts to be arranged spreading means is provided. The connector according to the invention ensures for the connection of the hollow profiles a strength which corresponds to that of a weld or a bond. Nevertheless, the connection of the hollow profiles, in contrast to a weld or gluing can be solved if necessary again. Another advantage over the known connectors is further that the connector comprises a small number of parts and can be produced by simple methods without the need for special tools erfoderlich. For example, the connector may be made by a stamping process and all materials known for the production of hollow sections. Due to the special arrangement of the legs, the open ends of which after insertion into the hollow profile in the inner edges, very high forces are possible in these areas. As a result, a uniform pressure on all four sides of the hollow profile is achieved without in addition to the central wall of the hollow profiled a special force is exerted.
